Beside for your healthiness, it also benefit for environment. So these items that you should consider to have when you decide to be a bike commuter;
- Tyres
You don’t want be late to go to work or school because you have to fix your flat tyre. So, you need tyres that have puncture protection layers. The wider tyres can also be considered. The wider tyres can be run at lower pressure, increasing levels of grip, smoothing out any bumps. This will be less chance of the bicycle skidding and skipping. Remember to check tyres pressure at least once per week.
2. Lights
A good pair of lights to be visible to other road users. The benefit of USB rechargeable lights are that you can easily charge the batteries when you’re at work.
3. Clothing
Clothing is really important when rain or shine if you don’t have some gear to keep you warm or dry. Especially when you’re riding. First, a good waterproof jacket. Breathable and quick dry are good options. Second, a base layer. It will help wick moisture away from the skin. Meaning that you won’t damp from sweat when you’re riding.
4. Bags
Commuting presence challenge. If you’re going to work, you’re probably bring some clothes for the office with you, lunch, or laptop. Most people who do commute will take some form of bag with them already. but if you’re going to be riding to work often, you want to upgrade your bag to cope with those daily demands.
5.Safety Items
Helmet; It’s important to keep safe your head for everyday life, if you already decided to commute with bike. Lock; prevent your bike from being stolen. And multi tools; good to have in case of emergencies.
Last but not least, to keep your bike working flawlessly, it is really important to keep up with routine maintenance task. These items range from simply cleaning your bike, change chain, to more complicated and time-consuming tasks like overhaul hubs. If you unsure doing it yourself, it is better to take it to a bicycle shop for maintaining your bike regularly.
