World Bicycle Day on June 3rd

Hello, World!!

Do you remember the first day you were riding a bicycle? Maybe riding a bicycle is the first challenging physical activity we learn to be master. When our parents start to release their protective hands when we are pedaling. Then, BOOM!!! for a lifetime, we become independent, pedal the bike by ourselves. First freedom yet a lifetime of adventure. We can go to anywhere we want, get out from living in the boxes…your room, office building, car, etc. Breath the air, see the green and the sky. Remember the way that you through along, all your surroundings become your memories. For sure, bicycle has positive impacts. Therefore, 

Let’s celebrate it!!! World Bicycle Day on June 3rd! 😀

Why do we celebrate Bike Day?

The United Nations General Assembly had on April 2018 declared June 3 as World Bicycle Day. The idea behind it is to recognize the longevity, uniqueness and versatility of the bicycle, and that it is an affordable, reliable, simple, clean and environmentally fit sustainable means of transport.

Beside all that benefits, regular cycling stimulates and improves your heart, lungs and circulation, reducing your risk of cardiovascular diseases. Cycling strengthens your heart muscles, lowers resting pulse and reduces blood fat levels. It’s really benefit for ourselves.

What we can do to celebrate Bike Day?

Encourages Member States to adopt best practices and means to promote the bicycle among all members of society, and in this regard welcomes initiatives to organize bicycle rides at the national and local levels as a means of strengthening physical and mental health and well-being and developing a culture of cycling.

How?

For example, on this World bicycle day 2021,

1: You can share your knowledge on bicycles around the world via social media by mentioning the importance of riding bicycles.

2: You can make a difference by participating in World Bicycle Relief’s #CyclingActsofKindness campaign. Hop on your bike and perform an act of kindness. Treat your friend coffee, snack or lunch; smile and say hello to a neighbor, go plant a tree, pick up the trash, and many more…have fun, and spread joy! (while following local social distancing guidelines, of course). 

3: Share your story on social media using hashtags #WorldBicycleDay and #aBikeMakesTheDifference

4: Join the Zwift Virtual Ride with four of today’s biggest cycling stars.

5: Encourage your community to start and to keep cycling.

6: Buy a bicycle if you don’t have or give a bike as a present to someone.

7: Or you can laugh at the fun and inspiring videos you share throughout the day. It is totally up to you to find the right activity for you!
